小乔木，树冠圆形，树型向上，树干红褐色。叶卵形，革质，有光泽，开展叶片红绿色，叶缘锯齿状，齿尖锐。花量大，花苞紫色；花型为平状，花瓣相连，单瓣，花瓣卵形；花萼深红色，翻卷，尖三角形，密被毛，雄蕊15-20枚，与花柱等高，花药黄色，花丝红色。果实中等大小，形状为球体，主色为红色，花萼有时宿存，挂果期很长，至来年3月。以春季大量红紫色花朵、秋冬红果为主要观赏特征。

Variety characteristics

Small tree with round crown, upward shape and reddish-brown trunk. Leaves ovate,  with leathery and glossy, spreading leaf blade red-green, leaf margin serrated and sharp. Flowers large, bud purple; flower type flat, petals connected, single, petals ovate; calyx crimson, revolute, pointed triangular, densely hairy, stamens 15-20, calyx as high as style, anthers yellow, filaments red. The fruit is medium in size, spherical in shape, red in main color, the calyx sometimes persistent, and the fruit-hanging period is very long until March of the next year. The main ornamental characteristics are a large number of red-purple flowers in spring and red fruits in autumn and winter.
